What are the grants? Who is eligible?

The Creativity Grants are cash awards provided to help the recipients pursue any creative endeavor they wish. All photographers who attend the Rebirth Workshop & Retreat are eligible to apply. We will be distributing three grants: (1) $2000 award, (1) $1000 award, and (1) $500 award. Each grant will go to a different applicant, enabling a total of three people to receive funding.

 

How do I apply?

After attending Rebirth all you have to do is answer three questions and submit them to us by April 30 -- four weeks after the workshop. The questions are meant to help you analyze your own creative journey.

1. What were your expectations of creativity, art, and your own life before attending Rebirth?

2. What are they after having attended Rebirth? Have they changed? Have they been reinforced?

3. In what ways will you commit to leading a more creative life? How will you encourage others to do the same?

 

In what format should I submit my grant application? When will the winners be notified?

These grants are about creativity, so we are looking for creative submissions. We will need a cover sheet with basic information such as your name and contact info, plus a brief description of what you are delivering to us. After you’ve filled out the cover sheet, we want you to push things a bit. Use any method you like, any medium you like. The more creative the better. Dig deeply. Do some soul searching. Be as honest as you can be.

We’re only going to issue one other specific instruction -- be sure to send in something tangible. We’ll have a panel of judges helping us select this, so they’ll need to be able to view / experience whatever it is that you submit. Send it by email, by snail mail, by carrier pigeon -- whatever you prefer. Just get it here by April 30, but above all else, be creative. That’s it.

We will then have the judges review the submissions and rate them on a scale of 1-4, with 4 being the highest mark. We will compile the scores and the submission receiving the highest total will receive the $2000 grant, the second highest total receiving the $1000 grant, and so on. This process should be completed by early summer, after which we will notify the recipients and send the awards.

 

Is there anything else I need to know? Anything else I need to agree to?

Not really. These grants are intended to help you embark on projects to enhance creativity. Period. There are no other deadlines you’ll need to keep. No restrictions on how the money is used. No requirements to notify us when you’ve completed your project.

Just create.

And then help others do the same.
